The
discerning traveler is someone defined as having keen insight and good
judgment - but that is not tantamount to only have a choice among top
priced hotels. Insight and good judgment should be the stamp of an
discerning operator as well, and this is why we have included two three
star hotels with a "personality" among our selected hotels in Cairo.
Indiana is a hotel of choice by many - first of all because of its
friendly staff and it's owner and general manager Madam Koka.
Secondly it got a
good location downtown on the west bank of the
Nile, just a short walk from Cairo Sheraton, the
Nile and the Cairo Opera House.
The area is quiet to be downtown Cairo, and in short reach to the
nightlife of the metropolis - and easy to get to the pyramids that's
located on the desert border of greater Cairo's west bank. So if an
inexpensive and friendly hotel with a local touch is what you are
looking for, then Indiana Hotel gets our best recommendation.
The hotel got 115 rooms, all with
air-conditioning, satellite TV and telephone. A
small swimming pool, but as this is not heated -
its only open from spring to fall. 24 hour room
service, two simple restaurants where the chief
can surprise you with a good local flavored food
as international dishes. One of the restaurants
are on the roof, and sitting in the open air
area here one can get a view to the Nile that
runs close by.
